The British Junior Golf Tour’s first event since lockdown was held at Wycombe Heights today (Sunday 19th July) and Alex Perry, Ed Perry, and Maisie Whittall from our junior section all made the long trip south to take part.  With greens like greased lightning, and none of them having ever played the course before, this would be a good test of golf for the juniors in their respective events.

Ed played in the Under 6 category on the Wycombe Heights short course, playing a full 18 holes on a challenging course set into the hill side.

Alex played in the Age 9-10 category, playing 9 holes on the Wycombe Heights main course.

Maisie played in the Mixed Junior Open category, playing 18 holes also on the Wycombe Heights main course, in the U18s event.

Each of our players did remarkably well against a very strong field.  Ed picked up a medal for 4th place narrowly missing out on 3rd by 1 shot.  Alex shot an impressive 39 gross to finish in 3rd place, missing out on joint 1st place by just one shot.  Maisie finished in 1st place, shooting a fantastic 82 gross (net 63) to win the Junior Open Mixed Net by 2 clear shots!

Congratulations to all 3 players, we are very proud of their performances – especially against such a large field!

Congratulations to all three members for their performances at Wycombe Heights. Just for interest I was born within 1/4 mile of what is now the golf course but in my day was an entrance off of the main road with the best conker trees for miles around and during September October was a field with the best wild mushrooms around if you got up early enough to pick them i.e. 6.00 in the morning. There was no golf club there at all.
Takes me back so thank you and well done.
