The Junior Fernihough Trophy was played on Sunday 29th October, with a fantastic turn out from the junior section.

Played in its traditional “Bogey/Par” format, the juniors battled against the course, which saw some wonderful golf played despite the wet ground conditions.

3rd place went to Amelia Bryan, with Ben Lazenby and Harry Brimmell battling it out in fine form, with both players carding their best rounds of the year.

Although both players matched each other with a net 64 round, in this competition format Ben won the Junior Fernihough Trophy with a score of “5 up”, beating Harry’s “3 up” on the day.

The Juniors had to play their best today to beat the Seniors 3.5 v 2.5. There was a lot of very good golf played considering the early frost and damp under foot conditions. Ben & Harry had the best result of the day winning 7 & 6 and Harrison and Harry also produced a very impressive 5 & 4 win. Kacey and Mark fought back very well from being 4 down after 12 to finish all square. However Teddy and Alex won it for the Juniors with Teddy draining a four footer on the 18th to win the match and this after he pulled himself together after slipping into the 7th pond whilst hitting his second shot.

Thank you so much to Mike and all of the Seniors that played and looked after our Juniors today. As always this match is one of the highlights in the junior calendar, and both juniors and parents. and hopefully seniors too. have so much fun and laughs.

I must admit though I did mention to the Juniors that under no circumstances should any of them bring up Mike Clarke’s 16 shots he had a few months before on the 10th hole. As you can tell by the photo it was going to be a long day for Mike.

Thank you too, for the Seniors for putting on a prize for the Juniors nearest the pin on the 6th. Congratulations Ben on winning this.

Finally a very special thankyou to Kacey who played her final Junior match for us today. She has been an absolute credit to our section and she will be greatly missed. Thank you so much Kacey for all of your help and support and we wish you all the best in your adult golf.

Thankyou to all the members and staff for all of your help in the Presidents Cup this year. Congratulations again to the Gents for winning again and I hope your all ready to face our Juniors again next year as they’re just getting better and better by the year.
