2018

Dear Members and Visitors.

It is a privilege to serve as Captain for the 2018 season. I am very proud of my club, as in the 10 years that I have been there, it has improved every year. A colossal investment in drainage has really paid off. The fairways now have a thick layer of grass and if you haven’t played the course, when you do, you will say that the  greens are fantastic.

The club is managed by a friendly and caring group of people who are passionate about you enjoying your visit. Whether it is to purchase  equipment, clothing or a round of golf, the Pro Shop will ensure you get exactly what you want. The restaurant provides a great range food at reasonable prices and the staff will look after you well. There is a great par 3 course which you can also play foot golf on at certain times. A well equipped driving range with targets to help with your accuracy and distance. Russell, our multi award winning professional can help you with all aspects of the game at prices you will be pleased by.

The Captains’ Charity this year is Primrose Hospice. The reason we have selected them is that they are a small local charity that treat and help people in the Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Redditch area.

They provide counselling and family support to both parents and children. If, as a result of the cancer, you are struggling after losing a breadwinner, they will provide Citizens Advice to help with how the family can get the help they need. They provide Complimentary Therapy to help with the 24/7 carers. Just an hour of massage, reflexology, homeopathy or aromatherapy can make a big difference to someone who is providing care to a terminal patient.

They also provide Hypnotherapy for patients who have a needle phobia. They run a day hospice, they provide chaplaincy and they offer three different bereavement groups.

Small charities struggle to get the funding that they need as their catchment area is much smaller, so please help us to help them.

I look forward to seeing you all on the course during the following year.
