Niamh Bush attended the Midlands South Championship at Beaconsfield on the 25th Aug.

She checked in and realised the course was a slope of 142 with total distance of 5794 yds off the gold tees and par 74, which is considerably longer than Niamh is normally used to playing, but this did not stop her playing exceptionally well!

The course was in excellent condition and a great place to have the opportunity to compete. Niamh’s round started with a Par 5 (SI 3) which Niamh shot 5 gross par (net eagle) for 4 stableford pts. From there the confidence grew and the 3 pointers kept rolling in finishing the front 9 holes 5 under net for 23 points. The back 9, the performance continued, raking in another 24 points giving a whopping 47-point finish (and 11 under net for a personal best gross 88 round).

Niamh took 1st with 47 points, a clear 5 points over second place! To top it off Niamh has now been cut to 17.6 hcp.

Her personal goal for the year was to reach a handicap of 18 and break 90, while searching for her first win.  So, what a great day as all 2021 ambitions reached in the same day!   Congratulations Niamh!
