20/08/2021A big win at Midlands South Girls Championship!
07/09/2021The 2021 ‘Flogas Champion of Champions’ Junior Invitational was recently held at Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort, Wicklow, Ireland. This World Championship event attracted 180 Junior Golf Champions aged 5 to 19 from all across the world. The tournament has quickly grown to become one of the biggest Junior Champions tournaments in world golf with over 30 countries signed up to host qualifying events and legendary golfer Gary Player endorsing the event.
Last year (2020) Maisie secured an invitation into the World Championship by winning the British Junior Golf Tour “Tour Championship” (U18 Girls). Maisie also qualified for the World Championship event by winning a European Junior Golf Tour event at Hayes Priors, shooting the lowest score of the day (77 gross).
The 2021 Junior World Championships were played August 10th – 12th over 3 days at the stunning Tulfarris Golf Club, set into the Blessington Lakes on the Liffy Reservoir to the west of Wicklow Mountains. Each of the qualifying competitors play in their respective category, off age appropriated tees, with Maisie competing in the U12 Girls section, covering girls aged 10-12.
Over the course of the three-day World Amateur Ranking event, Maisie shot 74 (+2 over gross) on day 1, 73 (+1 over gross) day 2, and a final round of 69 (-3 under gross). Maisie finished the tournament with a level par score of 216 to finish in 2nd place (behind Irish player Hannah Lee-McNamara who took the win).
Congratulations to Maisie for finishing 2021 U12 Girls World Championship Runner Up and bringing home a stunning glass trophy back to England!
